Notes on Breakout Groups:

 

EACH OF THE THREE GROUPS will be required to develop for their group of countries, a framework for a Caribbean AgroTourism Programme, comprising Actions to be implemented in the short, medium and long term, based on areas of common interest and/or need, viz:

 

  1. Short-term, immediately implementable projects (low hanging fruit);
  2. Medium term actions (next 2-3 years) needed at national, sub-regional and/or regional level;
  3. Long term actions (3-5 year) at national, sub-regional and/or regional level.

 

For each of these levels of action, groups may consider support required with respect to:

  • Institutional mechanisms (national linkages committees, resource centres, joint ministerial forums)
  • Policies in support of Trade along the value chain (domestic markets, intra-regional trade)
  • Policies in support of Investment in agro and rural based tourism
  • Human resource development (skills development and capacity building)
  • Marketing and Promotion and Public Awareness
  • ICT tools, Information and Communication
  • Insurance and Risk Management (environment, health, climate change impacts)
  • Finance and Investment
